During the session, Al Dahra – A success story, Siju Varghese from Al Dahra Holding presented information on Al Dahra, a prominent multinational leader in agribusiness that specializes in the cultivation, production and trading of animal feed and essential food commodities and end-to-end supply chain management.

Al Dahra is a vertically integrated agribusiness working in global logistics and supply chains. They are committed to water and food security and climate change informed practices to optimize energy, water and fertilizer. Al Dahra Toshka is the first zero-carbon emission farming project in the region in collaboration with Masdar, a leading developer and operator of utility-scale renewable energy projects, community grid projects and energy services consultancy. 

Serving a large customer base spanning the government and commercial sectors, Al Dahra has a widespread geographic footprint, across the northern and southern hemispheres, with a workforce of 5,000 employees and operates in over 20 countries. 

In the U.S.A., Al Dahra works in California and Arizona, producing alfalfa, forage, onions and garlic. In Romania and Spain, they produce forage and are the  largest consolidated farm in Europe. In Egypt, they have three farming projects with huge amounts of land cultivated to produce wheat, potato, alfalfa, citrus and grains. 

How can Al Dahra work with Canadian producers?

Al Dahra is interested in working with Canadian producers,  specifically with hay and alfalfa producers. Al Dahra can help producers move their forage products to international feed markets for dairy, equine, camel, etc. Hay quality is priced accordingly, so high quality hay will bring the greatest profit.
