The New Brunswick Soil and Crop Improvement Association (NBSCIA) is hosting a vegetable and small fruit field day at Nature’s Route Farm, Point de Bute, N.B. on Sept. 3 in partnership with the NB Department of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries (NBDAAF) and ACORN, with contributions from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC).

Morning session: end of season greenhouse management 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Farm tour and presentations

 - Welcome  and farm introduction

 - Greenhouse tour 

- End-of-season cleanup and plant management with Climax Conseils

 - Greenhouse disinfection: products talk

 - Orisha GH Controller: overview with Kent Coates

 - Optional networking lunch/open time to meet with reps

 - Afternoon session: irrigation and cover crops 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Field visits and demos

Farm tour: irrigation systems and drainage

 - Expert Q&A (Dubois)

 - DAAF: soil-based irrigation strategies

 - Carrot irrigation: Hortau Tensiometer demo

 - Presentation of Hortau system

 - Cover crop plot tour: with NBSCIA and DAAF
