Guest Presentation: Birds Canada

Join us on March 26 for an engaging and informative presentation with Ian Cook from Birds Canada focused on Rangeland birds and what they can tell us about the health of our grazing systems.

Rangeland birds are powerful ecological indicators. Their presence, diversity, and behavior can provide valuable insight into grassland condition, soil health, habitat structure, and overall ecosystem function. During this session, Birds Canada will explore how bird populations respond to grazing management and why they matter to producers.

The presentation will also introduce the Bird Friendliness Index, a tool designed to help measure and recognize grazing practices that support healthy bird habitat while maintaining productive working landscapes. In addition, the session will include Birds 101 and basic bird identification tips, along with information on how producers can connect with conservation initiatives and incentive programs available across the Prairies.

This session will offer practical takeaways for ranchers interested in strengthening both ecological outcomes and grazing performance.

We look forward to seeing you there!
