This Friday, May 17, is Endangered Species Day. Held the third Friday of every May, this day is a reminder to learn about and take action to protect threatened and endangered species around the globe.

During the morning session on Nov. 30 at the CFGA’s annual conference, keynote speaker Ronnie Drever, a senior conservation scientist at Nature United, spoke on a hierarchy for implementation of natural climate solutions.

In the Day 1 closing keynote at CFGA’s annual conference, Dan Undersander from the University of Wisconsin presented on "Measuring and reporting positive impacts for greenhouse gasses".

In honour of Earth Day, the CFGA shares some of the value forages and grasslands provide to the environment, and highlights some of the projects the CFGA administers through throughout the year to help protect the earth.

On the first morning of the CFGA’s Annual Conference, Dr. Undersander and Dr. Larder took questions from the audience in a live panel discussion about legumes, soil nitrogen, climate change and on-going research.

Attendees heard from Lauchlan Fraser during the afternoon session on Nov. 29 at the CFGA’s 14th Annual Conference. Dr. Fraser, from Thompson Rivers University, presented his research from five projects on BC rangeland management.

On Nov 29, 2023, Dr. Brooke McWherter from Dalhousie University presented at the CFGA’s 14th annual conference. Her presentation focused on the Farm Resilience Mentorship (FaRM) Program and barriers to rotational grazing adoption.

Brian McConkey with Viresco Solutions National presented at the CFGA’s 14th annual conference. His talk focused on soil organic carbon, the effects of grassland management on carbon sequestration and carbon markets.

March is Canadian Agriculture Literacy Month (CALM), a national celebration that takes place every March to share Canada’s rich agriculture and food story with students from kindergarten to Grade 12.
