The Lakeland College livestock applied research team is excited to invite you to its Research for the Ranch Field Day on Sept. 12, 2024. They are equally excited to collaborate with the Canadian Forage and Grassland Association (CFGA) to showcase its demonstration site at one of Lakeland College’s student-managed farms (SMF) pastures.

Draft schedule:

8:00 - 8:30 a.m. Registration at the Agriculture Technology Centre (ATC) building
Spend the morning at a Lakeland College pasture south of the campus where the CFGA has water and fencing demonstrations. Other topics to be addressed include free choice mineral supplementation, GPS tags and drone imaging technology.

This is an outside activity; please dress appropriately for the weather.
Lunch will be provided
The afternoon will take place at the ATC building where presentations will be given on an Altosid trial, heifer ultrasound, cattle supplementation, forage evaluation on bison pastures, an introduction to Nature’s Net Wrap and more.
The day will wrap up by 4:00 p.m.

For those who would like to learn more about targeted grazing, the CFGA is continuing to a site in the Town of Vermilion where goats are being used to control vegetation.
