Soil Health Summer Tour with Joel Williams
Converting Marginal Land to Forages

Join internationally recognized soil health and regenerative agriculture expert Joel Williams for an engaging day of learning focused on transforming low-productivity land into productive and resilient forage systems.

This workshop will explore practical strategies for converting marginal and challenging acres into profitable forage stands suited to prairie climates. Participants will learn about forage options for difficult growing conditions and gain insight into how forage systems can improve soil health, enhance drought resilience, and support long-term farm productivity.

The day will also include an on-farm field session where attendees will visit a nearby operation to see marginal land that has been successfully converted to hay production. Participants will have the opportunity to hear directly from producers, discuss management decisions and outcomes, and connect soil health principles with real-world applications.

Whether you are looking to improve underperforming acres, diversify your forage program, or strengthen the resilience of your operation, this event offers practical knowledge and valuable takeaways that can be applied on your farm.

Date: July 28, 2026
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Location: Red Deer County Protective Services Station 6, Red Deer County, Alberta

Please note that this event includes an outdoor field component. Participants should dress appropriately for the weather and be prepared for walking in the field.
