Soil Health Summer Tour with Joel Williams
Building Soil Health: Putting Plants into Action
Join renowned soil health consultant Joel Williams for an informative and practical day focused on improving soil health through plant-based management strategies. This workshop will explore how producers can use soil test results to develop customized soil health plans while gaining a deeper understanding of the role plants play in building organic matter, enhancing nutrient cycling, reducing salinity, controlling erosion, and improving microbial activity.
Participants will also hear from Dr. Yamily Zavala, Manager of the CARA Soil Health Lab, who will discuss soil health sampling methods, benchmark monitoring, and the implementation of MASH (Management Alternatives for Soil Health). Topics will include measuring biological activity, understanding when and why biostimulants should be applied, and the use of biological amendments such as Johnson-Su bioreactors, compost tea, and liquefactions.
This event is ideal for producers, agronomists, and anyone interested in advancing soil health practices and improving the long-term productivity and resilience of their land.
